Description

Juicy Italian-seasoned meatloaf layered with gooey cheese and rich marinara in every slice.


Ingredients

  • Ground beef (or beef & pork blend)
  • Mozzarella cheese
  • Marinara sauce
  • Italian seasoning
  • Eggs
  • Breadcrumbs
  • Milk
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Garlic (minced)
  • Onion (finely diced)
  • Fresh parsley or basil
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Olive oil

Instructions

  1. Sauté onion and garlic in olive oil until soft; let cool slightly.
  2. In a bowl, mix ground meat, eggs, breadcrumbs, milk, Parmesan, herbs, salt, and pepper.
  3. Press half the meat mixture into a loaf shape on a lined baking tray.
  4. Layer mozzarella down the center and spoon marinara over it.
  5. Cover with remaining meat mixture, sealing edges well.
  6. Spread marinara over the top and bake until cooked through and bubbling.
  7. Rest briefly, garnish with fresh herbs, and slice to serve.
