Description

Soft, buttery red velvet rolls swirled with cinnamon-sugar and draped in creamy vanilla frosting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 egg + 1 yolk
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (for filling)
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 4 oz cream cheese (for glaze)
  • 2 tbsp butter (for glaze)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and a pinch of sugar; let sit 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix in butter, egg, yolk, sugar, cocoa, and red food coloring. Add flour gradually to form a soft dough.
  3. Knead until smooth, cover, and let rise 1 hour until doubled.
  4. Roll dough into a rectangle, spread with butter, then sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon.
  5. Roll tightly and cut into 12 rolls; place in a greased pan and let rise 30 minutes.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 20–25 minutes until golden.
  7. Whisk glaze ingredients and drizzle over warm rolls before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure the milk is warm but not hot to activate the yeast properly.
  • For a richer flavor, let the rolls cool slightly before adding the glaze.
