- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
- 3/4 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 egg + 1 yolk
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 tbsp red food coloring
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (for filling)
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- 4 oz cream cheese (for glaze)
- 2 tbsp butter (for glaze)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and a pinch of sugar; let sit 5 minutes until foamy.
- Mix in butter, egg, yolk, sugar, cocoa, and red food coloring. Add flour gradually to form a soft dough.
- Knead until smooth, cover, and let rise 1 hour until doubled.
- Roll dough into a rectangle, spread with butter, then sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll tightly and cut into 12 rolls; place in a greased pan and let rise 30 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F for 20–25 minutes until golden.
- Whisk glaze ingredients and drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
Notes
- Ensure the milk is warm but not hot to activate the yeast properly.
- For a richer flavor, let the rolls cool slightly before adding the glaze.
