Soft, buttery cinnamon rolls upgraded with red velvet flavor, creamy frosting, and a tangy red berry drizzle.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 tbsp red food coloring
- 1/2 cup butter (softened)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp cinnamon (for filling)
- 8 oz cream cheese (for glaze)
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup mixed berries or raspberry preserves (for drizzle)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup pecans or red velvet crumbs (optional topping)
Instructions
- Make dough by mixing warm milk, yeast, sugar, melted butter, eggs, flour, cocoa, and red coloring. Knead until soft; let rise 1 hour.
- Roll dough into a rectangle and spread softened butter over it.
- Sprinkle generously with brown sugar and cinnamon, then roll tightly into a log.
- Slice into 12 rolls and arrange in a greased baking pan; let rise 20–30 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F for 22–25 minutes until puffed and lightly golden.
- Spread warm rolls with cream cheese glaze.
- Drizzle with berry sauce and top with pecans or red velvet crumbs for the dramatic finish.
Notes
- Ensure the milk is warm but not hot to activate the yeast properly.
- For a richer flavor, let the rolls cool slightly before adding the glaze.
- Feel free to adjust the sweetness of the glaze by adding more or less powdered sugar.
