- 1 large round crusty Italian bread loaf
- ½ lb sliced salami
- ½ lb sliced ham
- 8 slices provolone cheese
- 1 cup fresh mozzarella slices
- ½ cup roasted red peppers (drained)
- ½ cup marinated artichokes (chopped)
- ½ cup fresh spinach or arugula
- ¼ cup sliced olives
- 2 tbsp pesto
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
- ½ tsp Italian seasoning
Instructions
- Slice the top off the round loaf and hollow out some of the interior bread to create space for fillings.
- Brush inside with olive oil and red wine vinegar; spread pesto evenly along the base.
- Layer salami, ham, provolone, mozzarella, roasted red peppers, artichokes, olives, and greens.
- Sprinkle with Italian seasoning and press layers down gently as you build.
- Replace the top of the loaf, wrap tightly in plastic wrap.
- Place a heavy skillet on top and refrigerate at least 2 hours to compress flavors.
- Slice into thick wedges to reveal the beautiful layered cross-section.
