Description

A crusty artisan loaf packed with layers of Italian meats, cheeses, and marinated veggies—perfectly pressed for bold flavor in every slice.


Ingredients

  • 1 large round crusty Italian bread loaf
  • ½ lb sliced salami
  • ½ lb sliced ham
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 1 cup fresh mozzarella slices
  • ½ cup roasted red peppers (drained)
  • ½ cup marinated artichokes (chopped)
  • ½ cup fresh spinach or arugula
  • ¼ cup sliced olives
  • 2 tbsp pesto
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Slice the top off the round loaf and hollow out some of the interior bread to create space for fillings.
  2. Brush inside with olive oil and red wine vinegar; spread pesto evenly along the base.
  3. Layer salami, ham, provolone, mozzarella, roasted red peppers, artichokes, olives, and greens.
  4. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning and press layers down gently as you build.
  5. Replace the top of the loaf, wrap tightly in plastic wrap.
  6. Place a heavy skillet on top and refrigerate at least 2 hours to compress flavors.
  7. Slice into thick wedges to reveal the beautiful layered cross-section.
