Description

A bun-less, ultra-cheesy burger stacked between thick, sweet caramelized onion rounds.

Ingredients

  • Large onions (cut into thick rounds)
  • Ground beef (80/20)
  • Cheddar or American cheese
  • Burger sauce (mayo + mustard + relish)
  • Butter or oil
  • Salt & pepper
  • Garlic powder
  • Parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Slice onions into thick rings (¾–1 inch). Sear in butter over medium heat until softened, then continue cooking until deep golden and caramelized on both sides.
  2. Form beef into thick patties and season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. Sear patties over medium-high heat until browned; add cheese and let melt generously.
  4. Mix burger sauce by combining mayo, mustard, relish, and a pinch of pepper.
  5. Stack the cheesy patty on one caramelized onion round.
  6. Spoon on a thick layer of burger sauce.
  7. Top with another caramelized onion round to create the “bun.” Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding herbs or spices to the burger patties.
  • Adjust the cooking time based on your preferred level of doneness for the beef.
  • Feel free to customize the burger sauce to your taste.
