Ingredients
Scale
- 3 Egg whites
- 1 cup Granulated sugar
- 1/4 tsp Cream of tartar
- Green gel food coloring
- 1 tsp Vanilla or peppermint extract
- Holiday sprinkles
- Red icing or fondant bows
- Optional: 1 tsp cornstarch (for extra stability)
Instructions
- Beat egg whites with cream of tartar until frothy, then slowly add sugar until stiff, glossy peaks form.
- Mix in vanilla or peppermint extract, then tint the meringue a festive green.
- Fit a piping bag with a star tip and pipe double-layered circles to form wreaths on parchment-lined trays.
- Add sprinkles and red bow decorations before baking.
- Bake at 200°F for 1 hour, then turn off the oven and let meringues dry inside for another hour.
- Remove once crisp and fully cooled.
- Store in an airtight container to keep them light and crunchy.
Notes
- Ensure egg whites are at room temperature for better volume.
- Use a clean, dry bowl and beaters to avoid any fat contamination.
- For a more stable meringue, consider adding cornstarch.
