Description
A decadent fusion of moist chocolate cake, gooey caramel, creamy frosting, crunchy pecans, and rich ganache — this indulgent dessert captures all the classic turtle candy flavors in cake form.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box chocolate cake mix (or homemade chocolate cake batter)
- 1 cup evaporated milk
- ½ cup butter, melted
- 1 bag (14 oz) caramels
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 ½ cups chocolate frosting or ganache
Instructions
- Prepare cake mix according to package directions and pour half into a greased 9×13-inch pan.
- Bake half the batter for 15 minutes; remove from oven.
- Pour melted caramel mixture evenly over the baked layer.
- Sprinkle with pecans and chocolate chips, then pour remaining cake batter on top.
- Bake another 20 minutes until set. Cool completely.
- Frost with ganache or chocolate frosting, drizzle extra caramel, and top with pecans and chopped turtle candies if desired.
- Chill for at least 1 hour before serving to let the caramel set beautifully.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use homemade chocolate cake batter instead of a mix.
- Ensure the caramel mixture is smooth before pouring it over the cake.
- Chilling the cake helps the flavors meld and the caramel to set properly.
