- Thick-cut sourdough bread
- Thinly sliced roast beef
- Provolone cheese slices
- Caramelized onions
- Butter (softened)
- Garlic powder
- Fresh cracked black pepper
- Fresh parsley (optional garnish)
- Warm au jus (for dipping)
Instructions
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and lightly butter one side of each bread slice.
- Place two slices butter-side down in the skillet. Layer provolone, roast beef, caramelized onions, and another slice of provolone.
- Season lightly with garlic powder and black pepper.
- Top with remaining bread slices, butter-side up.
- Cook 3–4 minutes per side, pressing gently, until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove and rest 1–2 minutes before slicing.
- Serve hot with a small bowl of warm au jus for dipping.
Notes
- For extra flavor, consider adding more spices to the roast beef.
- Ensure the skillet is not too hot to avoid burning the bread.
- Feel free to customize with additional toppings like jalapeños or different cheeses.
