- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups whole milk (warm)
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp Italian seasoning
- Pinch red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Melt butter in a saucepan over medium-low heat; add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant (about 1 minute).
- Whisk in flour and cook for 1–2 minutes to form a smooth roux.
- Slowly pour in warm milk while whisking continuously to avoid lumps.
- Stir in heavy cream and cook until thickened, about 3–4 minutes.
- Add Parmesan, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning; stir until smooth and creamy.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly before spreading generously over pizza dough.
- Top with mozzarella and bake until bubbly and golden.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add more red pepper flakes.
- This sauce can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
