Description

A soft, custardy French toast casserole topped with buttery cinnamon crumble, whipped cream, and warm caramel.

Ingredients

  • Brioche or challah bread (cubed)
  • Eggs
  • Milk or half-and-half
  • Brown sugar
  • Cinnamon
  • Vanilla extract
  • Butter
  • Flour (for streusel)
  • Salt
  • Whipped cream & caramel sauce for topping

Instructions

  1. Add bread cubes to a greased baking dish.
  2. Whisk eggs, milk, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt; pour evenly over bread.
  3. Make streusel: mix flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and cold butter until crumbly.
  4. Sprinkle streusel generously over the soaked bread.
  5. Bake at 350°F for 45–55 minutes until golden and set but still soft inside.
  6. Let cool slightly so the custard firms up.
  7. Serve with whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use half-and-half instead of milk.
  • Can be prepared the night before and baked in the morning.
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less brown sugar.
