Description
A soft, custardy French toast casserole topped with buttery cinnamon crumble, whipped cream, and warm caramel.
Ingredients
- Brioche or challah bread (cubed)
- Eggs
- Milk or half-and-half
- Brown sugar
- Cinnamon
- Vanilla extract
- Butter
- Flour (for streusel)
- Salt
- Whipped cream & caramel sauce for topping
Instructions
- Add bread cubes to a greased baking dish.
- Whisk eggs, milk, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt; pour evenly over bread.
- Make streusel: mix flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and cold butter until crumbly.
- Sprinkle streusel generously over the soaked bread.
- Bake at 350°F for 45–55 minutes until golden and set but still soft inside.
- Let cool slightly so the custard firms up.
- Serve with whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use half-and-half instead of milk.
- Can be prepared the night before and baked in the morning.
- Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less brown sugar.
