  • Milk (1 cup)
  • Heavy cream (½ cup for ganache)
  • Semi-sweet chocolate (8 oz, chopped for ganache)
  • Salt (½ tsp)

Instructions

  1. Make a basic vanilla cake batter by creaming 1 cup butter with sugar, adding eggs and vanilla, then mixing in flour, baking powder, milk, and salt.
  2. Bake two 8-inch layers for 25–30 minutes. Cool completely.
  3. Beat ½ cup butter with brown sugar until fluffy to prepare the edible cookie dough frosting.
  4. Mix in heat-treated flour, vanilla, and a pinch of salt, then fold in mini chocolate chips. Add milk as needed for spreadable consistency.
  5. Heat cream until simmering, pour over chopped chocolate, let sit 1 minute, then stir until glossy to make ganache.
  6. Spread cookie dough frosting between the cooled layers and over the entire cake to assemble.
  7. Pour cooled ganache gently over the top, allowing it to drip down the sides for the ganache drip.
  8. Sprinkle cookie dough chunks and extra chocolate chips on top to decorate.
  9. Refrigerate for 30 minutes before slicing for neat, luscious layers.
