Description

A beautifully layered, flaky wreath bursting with silky custard and glossy cherries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 Puff pastry sheets
  • Pastry cream (custard)
  • Fresh cherries
  • Sliced almonds
  • Powdered sugar
  • 1 Egg (for egg wash) + splash of water
  • Cherry jam (optional glaze)

Instructions

  1. Cut two puff pastry sheets into long strips and twist them together to form a circular wreath; place on a baking tray.
  2. Brush with egg wash and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20–25 minutes until deep golden and flaky.
  3. Allow to cool slightly, then pipe or spoon thick pastry cream into the natural crevices of the baked wreath.
  4. Press fresh cherries into the custard, spacing evenly.
  5. Optionally warm cherry jam and brush lightly over cherries for shine.
  6. Sprinkle sliced almonds over the top and finish with powdered sugar.
  7. Chill briefly to set the custard before slicing.

Notes

  • Ensure the puff pastry is fully thawed before use.
  • For a richer flavor, use homemade pastry cream.
  • Chill the wreath for a few minutes to help the custard set properly.
