- Ground beef (1 lb)
- Cheddar cheese cubes (12 small pieces)
- Refrigerated pizza dough (1 roll)
- Baking soda (¼ cup, for boiling water bath)
- Salt & pepper (to taste)
- Garlic powder (½ tsp)
- Egg (1, beaten for egg wash)
- Coarse salt (for topping)
- Butter (2 tbsp, melted)
Instructions
- Brown ground beef in a skillet with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Drain and cool slightly.
- Cut pizza dough into 12 equal pieces. Flatten each piece into a small round.
- Place a spoonful of beef and one cheese cube in the center of each round. Pinch dough tightly to seal and roll into a ball.
- Drop each ball into boiling water mixed with baking soda for 30 seconds, then remove with a slotted spoon.
- Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet, brush with egg wash, and sprinkle with coarse salt. Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden brown.
- Brush with melted butter right out of the oven for shine and flavor.
- Best enjoyed fresh with dipping sauces like ketchup, mustard, or cheese sauce.
Notes
- For extra flavor, consider adding diced onions or pickles to the beef mixture.
- These can be made ahead of time and frozen before boiling.
- Experiment with different types of cheese for varied flavors.
