Description

Glossy, dramatic Halloween apples coated in deep black candy with hypnotic purple swirls.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 apples (washed & fully dried)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup light corn syrup
  • ¾ cup water
  • Black + purple gel food coloring
  • Edible purple glitter (optional)
  • Wooden apple sticks

Instructions

  1. Insert sticks into apples and place on a parchment-lined tray.
  2. In a heavy saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water; heat without stirring until it reaches 300°F.
  3. Remove from heat; mix in black gel coloring until the base becomes glossy and opaque.
  4. Add a few drops of purple gel coloring and gently swirl with a skewer—do not blend—creating streaky, poison-like ribbons.
  5. Dip apples one at a time, rotating slowly to capture the swirl effect.
  6. Let excess drip off, then place on parchment; dust lightly with edible purple glitter if desired.
  7. Allow to harden 10–15 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure apples are completely dry for better candy adherence.
  • Use a candy thermometer for accurate temperature measurement.
  • Be cautious when handling hot sugar syrup.
