Description
Authentic Golden Beef Plov is a flavorful Uzbek-style rice pilaf made with fragrant spiced rice, tender beef, sweet carrots, and fresh herbs.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups Basmati rice
- 1.5 lbs Beef chuck (cubed)
- 2 large Carrots (thick matchsticks)
- 1 large Onion (sliced)
- 1 head Garlic (whole, peeled outer skin)
- 3 tablespoons Vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon Paprika
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper
- 1/4 cup Fresh parsley or cilantro (chopped)
- 4 cups Water or beef broth
Instructions
- Rinse basmati rice until water runs clear; soak for 20 minutes, then drain.
- Heat oil in a heavy pot and sear beef cubes until deeply browned; remove and set aside.
- In the same pot, sauté onions until golden, then add carrots and cook until slightly softened.
- Stir in cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper; return beef to the pot and add water or broth to cover. Simmer 20–25 minutes until beef is tender.
- Spread drained rice evenly over the meat mixture without stirring. Gently pour hot water just to cover the rice.
- Place the whole garlic head in the center, cover, and cook on low until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed (15–20 minutes).
- Rest 10 minutes, fluff gently to combine layers, and garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
Notes
- For best results, use high-quality basmati rice.
- Adjust spices according to your taste preference.
- Letting the dish rest before serving enhances the flavors.
